One Week Guided Cycling Holiday

Itinerary (Example)

Day 1 Saturday - Airport transfer from Toulouse to our base in Luscan. Off load the bikes and settle into your room.  Tea and coffee are available all afternoon while you build your bikes up.  We will take you into the local town to visit the supermarket to stock up on supplies for the week.  After the evening meal the weeks activities will be discussed.

Day 2 Sunday - Our first ride out is designed to check everything out on your bike and also your legs from yesterdays journey.  We take a gentle route through typical French villages and wind through the lanes to the North West of Luscan.  You will see for the first time the mountains that will be climbed later in the week.  A stop of half way for a coffee  and back to the centre.  Distance is around 60km (37miles) and about 700m (2300ft) of climbing.

Day 3 Monday - Today we will introduce you to the cols local to the centre.  We ride North East from Luscan through Barbazan, Sauveterre De Comminges and on to the Col de Larrieu.  The decent winds its way down to the town of Aspet where we will stop for coffee and see how everyone is after their first col.  Then it is downhill to the small col de Buret before hitting the Cat 3 climb of the Col Des Ares.  After making it to the top it is downhill all the way back to the centre. Distance is 80km (50miles) and 1600m (550ft) of climbing.

Day 4 Tuesday -  You had a taste of climbing yesterday so today we try out a Cat 1 climb taking a gentle warm up through the Luchon Valley to Bagneres-de-Luchon where we turn left to the start of the Col Du Portillon.  This is a steep but very picturesque climb to the border of Spain..  The decent is fast and winding into the Val d'Aran where we descend even further along the Spanish roads into France.  At St Beat we turn right to commence the famous Col De Mente another Cat 1 climb.  At the top we stop for lunch and chat about the route so far.  Then it is a very fast descent into Aspet and back to the centre via Sauveterre De Comminges and a well earned drink.  Distance 118Km (73miles) and there is always a shorter route is preferred.
Day 5 Wednesday - Easy day today.  Ride locally or just go and do something totally different like Kayaking or even sight seeing.

Day 6 Thursday - We load up the bikes this morning and head over towards the town of Lourdes.  Today is a big day with the Col d'Aubisque and the Col de Soulor before heading down into the town of Argeles-Gazost.  Time for a bit of lunch before the biggest ascent in the Pyrenees.  The most famous of them all, the Tourmalet.  The group can gather at the top for a photograph under the famous statue.  Then it is a short descent into La Mongie for an overnight stay and an evening celebration.

Day 7 Friday - After last nights celebration the descent from the Tourmalet will be welcoming. As soon as you hit the bottom it is up again to the Col d'Aspin.  This is a beautiful climb and warms the legs up nicely before heading over the final climb of the week, the Col de Peyresourde.  The 15km descent back down to Luchon is amazing and then the final ride back to the centre.

Day 8 Saturday - With the bikes all packed up we will take you to the Airport after breakfast for your flights home or if you want to spend a few days in Toulouse then we can organise a hotel near by, just let us know.
The example itinerary gives an idea of daily activities but this is always dependant on the ability and the wishes of the group.  This is always discussed at the evening meal on day 1.  If you have any specific requirements or requests then let us know at the time of booking.
