L' Étape du Tour Training CAMP - 2008

31st May to 5th June

 

Day 1 - Saturday We will pick you up from  Toulouse Blagnac airport and transfer you back to our center in Luscan.  After settling into your room and having some lunch you can build up your bike in our workshop and then we will go for a short 50 to 60km test ride to check out the bikes and the legs on the rolling countryside of the Comminges.   Distance - 58km

 

 
       
Day 2 - Sunday After breakfast we head out to climb the Col Des Ares and the Col de Buret before heading up the valley to the  Col De Menté.  With a quick stop on the summit for lunch we will head down into St Beat and back to the centre.   Distance - 80km

 

       
Day 3 - Monday The first real taste of the route today.  We head out in the minibus to the start in Pau.  Although the final route is not know at this stage we will cycle along some great roads through the towns already set and then onto the climbs of the Tourmalet and the finish of the Hautacam.  It is a tough day but with the support vehicle not far behind you will feel safe and confident.  We will rest in Argelés Gazost in a 2* Hotel before the ride tomorrow.   Distance - 165km

 

       
Day 4 - Tuesday Another big day today but it is a fantastic ride back to our centre.  You will retrace your route from yesterday and climb the Tourmalet and at this time of the morning it is fantastic to watch the sun come up over the summit.  The descent through La Mongie will be most welcome after remember yesterdays struggle.  We will have a spot of lunch at the base of the Col D'Aspin before tackling the final 5km.  The descent into Arreau is amazing with long straight sections and stunning views. We will then take a gentle ride back through the Comminges to Luscan.   Distance - 140km
Day 5 - Wednesday Final day of riding today and even though the legs will be feeling it from the recent riding you can  choose between two routes.  After breakfast we will ride up to Mauléon Barousse and onto the Port de Balés (the hardest climb of last years Etape) and down into Luchon for lunch or is you are feeling fresh you can climb the Col De Peyresourde and then retrace your steps back to Luchon to meet up with the rest of the group before heading back to the centre along a 30km downhill treat.  It is then time to pack away the bikes before the final evening meal where you can all chat about how quick you will be finishing the Etape du Tour 2008.    Distance - 80km or 110km

 

       
Day 6 - Thursday After breakfast we will transfer you back to Toulouse airport for the morning flights
