Tour De France Week 2008

Itinerary

Day 1

Saturday 12th July

Stage 8 Figeac Toulouse

The tour arrives into Toulouse just slightly after you do.  We will plan to pick you up from Toulouse airport in the morning and head into the centre of Toulouse for a café lunch before making our way to the bustling finish line.  This was a relatively flat stage so it can be assured there will be a battle of the sprinters

After the excitement of the finish we will head down to our centre at Luscan in the heart of the Pyrenees.  After settling into your rooms and checking out your bikes in our workshop you can sit down to a fantastic welcome dinner.

Day 2

Sunday 13th July

Stage 9 - Toulouse Bagnères-de-Bigorre

The tour now races directly into the Pyrenees to St Girons and then over the Portet D'Aspet, Col de Buret and Col des Ares.  After a leisurely breakfast we will head out towards Luchon and the Col de Peyresourde where we will set up camp on the side of the mountain to watch the rides struggle up the highest climb of the day. - Option to take the minibus to Luchon and ride the final 10km up to our viewing point.

Day 3

Monday 14th July

Stage 10 - Pau Hautacam

Today's stage takes in the legendary climb of the Tourmalet.  This is where we will be to watch this epic ascent to one of the most famous statues in cycling, the Giant.  We will ride from the centre over some rolling countryside to the Col d'Aspin which was the last climb of yesterdays stage.  After descending the mountain we will then climb to a suitable viewing point on the Tourmalet.  The support vehicle will never be far away and after the stage has ridden through we will free wheel back to the minibus for the journey home.  We can then watch the highlights on TV and try and see if you made the video. Option to take minibus to the base of the Tourmalet and ride the final 15km.

Day 4

Tuesday 15th July

Rest Day for the Tour

It may b rest day for the pro's but for us we have the option to ride some of Stage 9 over the Col de Buret and Col des Ares.  It will be a nice gentle ride out to Aspet for a café stop before heading over the climbs and down hill back to the centre.

Day 5

Wednesday 16th July

Stage 11 - Lannemezan Foix

We will have an early start this morning, riding from the centre out through the Comminges to Lannemezan to watch the start.  The starts are great fun and where you can get very close to the riders as they come out of their hotels and buses.  Once the riders have rolled out we will grab some lunch and then head back to the centre where we can relax by the pool with a beer and watch the end of the stage on TV.

Day 6

Thursday 17th July

Market Day

Time for rest from the bike today.  We will take a leisurely breakfast and then head out to St Gaudens for the local market.  You can spend time strolling around this typical French market and the shops.  After a café lunch we will return to the centre where you can either relax with a beer or take a trip out on your bike to the local lake where you can sooth the legs in the pure cool waters.

Day 7

Friday 18th July

Luscan to Luchon (Port de Balés)

Now that the Tour has left the Pyrenees we have time to take in one of the toughest climbs in France and which was featured for the first time in last years Tour.  It is my favorite climb as it is quiet and picturesque with fantastic views from the top.  We will then head down the Balés into the Thermal town of Luchon for a well earned lunch.  It is then all down hill back to the centre where you can relax and pack away your bikes before the final meal of the holiday at a local restaurant.  Option to ride directly to Luchon which is still a great ride.

Day 8

Saturday 19th July

With the bikes all packed up we will take you to the Airport after breakfast for your flights home or if you want to spend a few days in Toulouse or chase the tour to Paris then we can organise a hotel near by or drop you off at the train station, just let us know.
