Triathlon & Swimming in the Pyrénées

Triathlon and swimming in the Pyrenees is exceptional.  We are lucky enough to have a choice of open water swimming with 4 lakes all within 10km of the centre.  We have chosen a very beautiful lake which is set aside for swimming and where we hold our mini triathlon and swim training.  There is also many outdoor pools which are open from July 1st through to 1st September and in the summer we use the 50m outdoor pool which is a favourite for local triathletes as well as the Russian Tri Team who spend the majority of the summer in the Pyrenees training and racing.

There are many races throughout the year and some are very unique such at the Pyrenea Tri in March which includes riding halfway up the Col D'Aubisque and then Rando skiing from the ski station of Gourette and back down.  There are also races which incorporate famous climbs such as the Fos Duathlon taking in the Col De Menté (twice) and the Tourmalet Duathlon.  All of these races are listed on our events page and is updated each season and certain races we incorporate into our holidays.

If you choose a self guided holiday then we will always be on hand to take you to the local pools.  The 50m pool is open from 10:00 and is normally only used by Triathletes for training until about 11:30.  It costs around 3 euros per session.  Our Triathlon holiday packages will always include a couple of swims in the lake (optional of course).  The temperature is comfortable without wetsuits from June and the water is crystal clear.

Safety is paramount on the water at all times but the lakes are shallow enough to stand so you can dip your head under and watch the fish darting by.   We try and put a couple of buoys in at known distances to allow a little structure but the main theme is fun.
