Ride the roads and experience the atmosphere of the 2019 Tour De France

Tour De France Holiday Package

Our 2019 Tour de France special will run from Saturday 13th to Saturday 20th July.  This is a friendly low key tour based from our centre in the heart of the French Pyrenees.  From picking up from Toulouse airport, home cooked 3 course meals and very comfortable accommodation, we will look after you throughout.

This will be our 15th Tour de France in the Pyrenees, so we know what goes on and we will get to watch 3 of the stages, 1 in the mountains, a finish in Toulouse and the Time Trail in Pau.  Lots of riding if you want to or treat it as a touristique event and just ride to the viewing points along the way.

Day 1 – Saturday 13th July [Transfer from Toulouse]

Airport transfers from Toulouse back to our base in Luscan, in the heart of the Pyrenees. We will help you build up your bikes or set up your rental before a picnic lunch on the terrace.

Then it is time for a nice spin around the country lanes. Nothing strenuous and of course we finish at a café, this time in the historic village of St Bertrand de Comminges

A quick briefing on the terrace before a fantastic home cooked evening meal with plenty of wine and chatter.

Day 2 – Col du Portilon

We will ride up to spa town of Bagneres de Luchon for a quick coffee Coffee before climbing the Col du Portillon, a short but challenging climb (Category 1) to find your climbing legs.  Then it is a fantastic, scenic descent into the village of Bossot in Spain for lunch before the road back to base.

Day 3 – Col des Ares

We will ride a short loop along rolling countryside before tackling the Category 4 climb of the Col de Buret (many times in the Tour de France but never really mentioned).  Then the Col des Ares follows directly after the short decent.  This Category 2 climb is also our Time Trial course so you can measure your time against the Strava segment if you so wish.  We will then head to the small riverside hamlet of Mauléon Barousse for some lunch.  Not too far back to base to relax on the terrace with a cold drink.

Day 4 – Stage Finish – Toulouse

You are more than welcome to take a short ride in the morning, we have some shorter flatter routes that loop around the surrounding countryside that you can explore.  We will then transfer you to Toulouse where you can get some lunch before lining up with the crowds to watch the finish of Stage 11 Albi – Toulouse.  You will be free to wander about and we will all meet up before heading back to base.

Day 5 – Mountain Stage – Col de Peyresourde

Today we head back into he Mountains to watch the riders take on the first Pyrenean stage.  We will set ourselves up on the Col de Peyrsourde to experience the caravan, the wait and then the explosion of excitement as the team cars rush past followed by the riders themselves.  We are able to ride to and from the stage but will have the support vehicle close by to collect you “swag” collected from the commercial caravan.  Back to base to relax.

Day 6 – Individual Time Trial – Pau

A full day off the bike today as you get to experience the pro riders one by one as they tackle the 27Km individual time trail of Stage 13.  We will transfer you to Pau and you are free to watch the stage wherever you wish including lunch and drinks.  We will meet up to return back to base after the race leader has finished.

Day 7 – Transfer

We will transfer you back to Toulouse just after breakfast.
