You need this – to ride in the clear air of the Pyrenees and witness the biggest bike race in the world.

Tour De France Holiday Package

Our 2021 Tour de France special will run from Monday 12th  to Sunday 18th July.  This is a friendly low key tour based from our centre in the heart of the French Pyrenees and with two nights in a hotel to get us closer to the Tour action.  From picking up from Toulouse airport, home cooked 3 course meals and very comfortable accommodation, we will look after you throughout.

This will be our 17th Tour de France in the Pyrenees, so we know what goes on and we will get to watch 3 of the stages, a finish in our local town of Saint Gaudens and two in the mountains, the Col de Portet  and the beautiful Luz Ardiden, a little further away.  Lots of riding if you want to or treat it as a relaxing holiday and just ride to the viewing points along the way.

Arrival – Monday 12 July [Airport Hotel]

The 2021 Tour de France is a week earlier than usual.  So we propose for you to fly in at your leisure and we will accommodate you in a hotel on the Monday evening.  This allows us to pick you up first thing on the Tuesday morning and get you transferred to our base in Luscan.

Day 1 – Tuesday 13th July [Transfer from Toulouse]

We will pick you up early this morning and head straight back to Luscan.  We will get the bikes unpacked and built up and and quick snack before peddling downhill to Saint Gaudens

Stage 16 – Pas de la Case > Saint Gaudens

We will ride only 15 Km before we are at the small town of Saint Gaudens and there you can leave the bikes with us for safe keeping.  This will allow you to wander around at your leisure and get a good spot to on the finishing straight to spot the riders in what will probably be a sprint finish.  Then it is back to base and to get settled in.

We will have our evening briefing on the terrace before a fantastic home cooked evening meal with plenty of wine and chatter.

Day 2 – Col du Portet (Stage 9 Muret > Col du Portet)

It is an early rise this morning as we head over to the next valley in the minibuses.  The Col du Portet is a mountain top finish.  The Portet carries on from near the top of Pla d’Ardet to the highest paved road in the French Pyrenees which was specifically surfaced for the 2019 Tour de France.   This climb is renown for it’s tormenting gradient, never letting up until the top.  We will see the grimace on the professionals faces, knowing you have already ridden the same roads.  There is also the option watch the stage lower down at one of our friendly view points.

After the end of stage car passes us we will head back down to the minibuses and a drive our over night stay in a beautiful town of Argelés Gazost.

Day 3 – Luz Ardiden (Stage 18 Pau > Luz Ardiden)

After a leisurely breakfast we will ride up to the famous HC climb and second mountain top finish of the Luz Ardiden..  This is a stunning climb with multiple open switchbacks all the way to the ski station.  We will find another friendly viewpoint and after you have submitted and taken the obligatory photo, you can drop back down to the group.

After seeing the Tour go through we will head back down and down it is all the way to the same hotel in Argelés Gazost where we will spend a second night so not so much packing required this week.

Day 4 – Col du Tourmalet (back to Luscan)

This is a big one and the climb that every cyclists makes the pilgrimage to the Pyrenees to do.  It is a good warm up to the base in Luz St Saveur where we will have a quick cup of coffee.  you have plenty of time to get to the summit of the Giant where the famous cyclist statue stands.  We will descend to Payolle for lunch and then onto the Col d’Aspin, a shorter but beautiful climb.  We will then ride through the rolling countryside back to our base in Luscan.

Remember on these point to point rides we will never be far away from support vehicle so if you feel you need a rest or just some moral support then we will be there for you.

Day 5 – Col des Ares

We have had a few big days so far, so after a very leisurely breakfast we will take a shorter loop taking in the famous village and cathedral of St Bertrand de Comminges.  A nice lunch in the square and then you will have all afternoon to lounge around by the pool.

Day 6 – Transfers back to Toulouse

There is no rush this morning but all dependant on flights.  We will transfer you back to Toulouse and if the group can choose afternoon flights then we may be able to squeeze in a short ride for a coffee before packing up the bikes.
