TOUR DE FRANCE 2025

PROPOSED DATES 13th to 20th July 2025

Tour De France Holiday Package

Our 2025 Tour de France special will run from Sunday 13th to Sunday 20th July.  This is a friendly low key tour based from our centre in the heart of the French Pyrenees.  We will head to Toulouse to watch the Start of Stage 11and after lunch will head to an overnight in Angeles Gazost before Stage 12 and the mountain finish on the famous Hautacam.  But the excitement grows as you get the rare opportunity to was an individual Time Trial up the Peyragudes, a fabulous day out only a stones throw from our door.  And finally, not since 1989 has Superbagnere hosted a stage finish.  This 17km monster climb that sits behind the town of Luchon will be an epic stage.  From picking up from Toulouse airport, home cooked, home grown 3 course meals and very comfortable accommodation, we will look after you throughout.

This will be our 20th Tour de France in the Pyrenees, so we know what goes on and we will get to watch the mountain stages, the starts and the finishes.  Lots of riding if you want to or treat it as a relaxing holiday and just ride to the viewing points along the way.  This is a holiday for you and we will be there all the way.

ITINERARY (Example)

Arrival Day 1 – Sunday 13th July

The Pyrenean stages are in the middle of the 2025 Tour de France.  We will pick you up from Toulouse (Blagnac) airport around midday and transfer you back to base in the centre of the Pyrenees.  Our purposely renovated cycling lodge will be your home for the week where you can build up your bikes using our workshop or have your rental bike fitted by our qualified mechanic.  We will then take a warm up ride on a short loop finishing at the world famous cathedral, St Bertrand de Comminges for a coffee and get to know everyone.

Day 2 – Monday 14th July

After a relaxing breakfast on the terrace we will head out for your first taste of the mountains.  The Col des Ares Loop (48Km) is a nice introduction to climbing and also descending.  There is never any pressure to keep within a group as there are always meet up points (mainly on the tops of the climbs and at the bottom).

After stopping for lunch it is back to base where you can relax by the pool or watch the final run in of Stage 19 into Châteauroux on the large TV in the very comfortable lounge.

We will have our evening briefing for the next day on the terrace before a fantastic home cooked evening meal with plenty of wine and chatter.

Day 3 – Tuesday 15th July

A slightly longer ride today with your first category 1 climb, the Col du Portillon.  It is a steady 9km climb with a few cheeky rides but a great follow on effort from yesterday.  Plus you get to cross over into Spain for lunch and some great Tapas in our favourite restaurant nestled in a picturesque square of Bossost.   And finally a downhill all the way back to base in Luscan for a a loop of around 80km.

Tour de France

Day 4 – Wednesday 16th (Stage 11 Toulouse > Toulouse)

We will head up by minibus to Toulouse to watch the start of Stage 11.  It is always great fun to see the buses roll in and try and grapple a sneaky autograph or selfie with the pro’s who are preparing for the days ride.  Once they head off we will have a quick lunch before returning to Luscan to watch the sprint finish on the big screen.  We will get the bikes ready for tomorrow stage where will be heading off early after breakfast.

Day 5 – Thursday 17th July (Stage 12 Auch > Hautacam)

An early transfer this morning with the bikes so we can get a good warm up before we hit the Hautacam and try to get to the top before the road is closed (we will have plenty of time) and you will be able to experience the Caravan of the tour and enjoy the carnival.  Then the pro riders will come through, fighting the final few kilometres for the win.

The mountain top stages are the most enjoyable to watch – it will be a fantastic experience.

Day 6 – Friday 18th July  (Stage 13 Loudenvielle to Peyregudes Time Trial))

This is such a bonus, to be able to watch an individual Time Trail on the mountain.  We will ride up the valley to Luchon and climb the Col de Peyresourde.  After a snack and coffee on the famous mountain top café we will head up to the Peyregude the finish of the Time Trial – then find a decent spot to camp out to watch the pro riders suffering on this steep challenge – they may even use the OO7 airfield as used in the film Tomorrow Never Dies in 1997.

After the yellow jersey finishes we will head back to the Peyresourde and descend down to Luchon and the valley ride home.  There will be transport also for this who need a lift.

Day 7 – Saturday 19th July (Stage 14 Pau to Superbagnere)

This whopper of the climb has not been a part of the Tour de France since 1989.  It is a climb we have always said shoudl be a staple of the tour with its steep sections within the 17km ascent from Luchon.  And in 2025 we will get to witness the mountain top finish for the first time in 4 decades.  What a result.

After breakfast we will ride up the valley (similar to yesterday) to Luchon where will we will get a coffee and pastries.  Then the ride starts up Superbagnere, nice and steady as this is a HC climb.  We will get as far as we can and then wait for the riders to pass to the finish line.  This will be the final push of the holiday so we will have a celebratory meal at a local restaurant after we have packed the bikes away.

Day 8 – Sunday 20th July – Transfer to Airport

It is an early transfer this morning and after a coffee and a croissant we will get you to the airport for the morning flights.

You should be feeling relaxed but a slight tinge of tiredness, ready for your next challenge…..
